| "Students are provided well planned, interactive lessons with the strengths, needs, learning styles, and interests of each student in mind. The students are motivated with positive reinforcement to participate and learn through highly engaging activities and conversations in which each child’s ideas are heard and respected by the other students and the teacher. The teacher assesses and tracks students’ progress throughout the school year to provide an accessible, yet rigorous curriculum through flexible small groups, one-on-one instruction, and projects when necessary focused on the Virginia Standards of Learning. All students are expected to be present and participate respectfully throughout each school day in support of all learners within the learning community. Each parent is vital to the educational process and supports the student at home by checking homework completion and attending meetings at school with the teacher and other professionals to share insights about the student as well as receiving feedback about strategies in which to help make each student a successful and happy member of our society." |
