Fundred Truck Pick-Up On Friday, May 14th at 9:30 am the Armored Fundred Truck pulled into Long Branch's driveway to pick up Fundreds. Long Branch is a collection center for the Fundred Project. Students, teachers and administrators gathered in front of the school to greet the truck. Six fifth grade armored guards delivered the precious works of art to truck driver, Tory while Ms. Roth had the band play, "When the Saints Go Marching In." The driver talked about how the vegetable oil powered truck worked and took questions from the students. It was a wonderful celebration and Long Branch was able to give 2,066 Fundreds to the project. Long Branch will still be a collection center and will still receive fundreds for the project. Ed Center Art Show We are so proud of all the students who had artwork in the Ed Center art show. What a great turn out at the reception! We would like to thank all their parents for their support of Arlington County's art program. The Long Branch Lion has arrived! The fifth grade students at Long Branch will be painting a design on the Lionel the Lion to be auctioned off to help raise money for the PTA. The students have started sketching their designs and are excited to paint. We have decided to go with a garden theme for our painting. The students have been learning about public art and how it can impact a community. We looked at the DC party animals for inspiration and other cities that used animals. We talked about the statement the artist was making through this form of public art.
