Facilities Planning

The Facilities Planning department is responsible for enhancing the school system’s use of facilities. Using geographic information system (GIS) technology, the Facilities Planner performs extensive boundary studies, utilization studies, and other applicable analysis to assure maximum utilization of capital funds. The Facilities Planner helps ensure that student needs are accomodated as efficiently as possible by the school system.

Departmental resposibilities include:

• Preparing short and long term student population projections
• Preparing Arlington Facilities and Student Accomodation Plan (AFSAP)
• Assisting in the planning of future major infrastructure need (relocatable classrooms) and in the Capital Projects Funds Program
• Maintaining the APS geographic information system database
